Welcome to ASU Tempe
Workshops, plenary talks, technical sessions, and poster sessions will be held in the ASU Memorial Union and Student Pavilion, which are connected by a shaded plaza, and located in the center of campus. Other venues on the ASU Tempe campus that are likely to be used during the conference include the College Avenue Commons Building (CAVC) and the Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building 4 (ISTB4). CAVC is LEED Gold, built in 2015, and houses faculty from the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, which is the academic unit that includes Environmental Engineering. ISTB4 is LEED Gold, 293,000-square-foot research building built in 2012 that houses several engineering programs including Environmental Engineering.
Environmental Engineering at ASU
The Environmental Engineering program at ASU is part of the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE), which is one of six schools that make up the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE). There are 21 faculty at ASU who teach and conduct research in Environmental Engineering and closely related fields such as Sustainable Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Environmental Resources Management. In August 2017, ASU launched a new Environmental Engineering undergraduate degree program that offers a B.S.E. in Environmental Engineering and will seek ABET accreditation. The Environmental Engineering undergraduate program currently has over 115 students enrolled. There are also approximately 100 graduate students in Environmental Engineering at ASU.
Environmental Engineering faculty at ASU cover a wide range of research expertise and teaching interests including water quality and treatment, nanotechnology, biotechnology, geoenvironmental engineering, sustainable engineering, hydrosystems, air quality, and engineering education. Environmental Engineering faculty at ASU have leadership roles and participate in numerous centers and high-profile initiatives including NSF Nanosystems Engineering Research Center for Nanotechnology Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT), NSF Engineering Research Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics (CBBG), NSF-DOE Engineering Research Center Quantum Energy and Sustainable Solar Technologies (QESST), NSF Industry/University Cooperative Research Center Water & Environmental Technology (WET), Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology, Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering, and Sustainable Phosphorus Alliance.
How to get here
ASU is served by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), which is the 11th busiest airport in the U.S., and is a hub for American Airlines and a major destination for Southwest Airlines. PHX is 7 miles from the ASU Tempe campus and connected by lightrail (one-way ticket $2). The ASU Tempe campus and many hotels are a short walk from the lightrail station in Tempe. Tempe also has a free bus service, called Orbit, which circulates Tempe and can be used to reach other hotels. ASU and the Phoenix metro area are well connected by interstates and highways with Tucson, AZ, Flagstaff, AZ, San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Albuquerque, NM, and El Paso, TX within a 6-hour drive.

The group rates for Courtyard Tempe, Moxy Tempe, AC Tempe, and Graduate Tempe are in effect for reservations made by March 29, 2019, unless rooms in the block sell out before that date. For all other hotels, group rates are subject to availability of rooms at the time reservations are made.
